24 days until surgery!! I can't believe it's coming up so quickly! I am ready to just get it over with. I'm doing everything I can to prepare, while still not freak myself out too much. I already had my pre surgery consultation with my surgeon in Bend, Or. (5 hours from home, ugh!) It went pretty well, but really gave me a reality check that this isn't going to be a very easy surgery. They basically have to redo everything from my eyes down to make everything fit perfect. The surgery is expected to be seven hours long! Ugh! I'm excited to see how I turn out. I will have two surgeons doing the procedure: an oral surgeon and a plastic surgeon. So I think I'll be in pretty good hands.
I've started picking out liquid foods I want to eat after my surgery. My mom bought this cook book with all kinds of post oral surgery recipes...including blended lasagna and hamburgers. SICK! I think I'll stick with smoothies and milkshakes. Everyone I've heard of getthing this has said they've gotten pretty sick of smoothies and whatnot after only a couple days and started blending dinners...probabbblyyy won't happy, but we'll see haha.
I;ve been working out as much as possible lately (better in shape means quicker recovery sometimes) and eating lots of protein rich foods. I don't know how I'll survive without steak and potatoes for 6+ weeks. So I've been eating what I want while I can...especially since by the time I'll be able to eat again, I'll be back at school. No more home cooked meals:(
Anyways, that's just some ranting about how I've prepared so far. Better get more serious as the big day gets closer!
This is a blog about my preparation and progress throughout my undergoing of upper and lower jaw reconstructive surgery. Enjoy!:)

Intro!
Hey guys! So this is the first time I've ever blogged, and I think it's about a huggeee event coming up. Jaw Surgery! I have an underbite (lower jaw is longer than upper jaw) and will be getting both jaws moved. My date is August 12th at Shriner's Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. It's coming up quick and I'm getting super nervous!!
A little about myself:
I am a nineteen year old college student from Washington. I will be a sophomore at Central Washington University in the fall, majoring in Family and Consumer Science Education. I decided to do this blog after I saw how many other people going through this surgery did them. I thought they were soooo helpful! Hopefully mine will help someone else who is in the pre stages of this surgery. I have been prepping for this surgery for yearsss. I was suppose to have it last summer (same date and all) but I got strep throat and wasn't able to go through with it. That means I've had braces on for a few years now for it (grrr) and am ready to get this all over with! I'm pretty scared for it, but I have been wanting it for so many years, I can't back out now. The only thing I'm really worried about is recovery. I have to move back to school on September 3rd, only a few weeks after the surgery! Eek!
Anyways, I am enjoying my last couple weeks of pre surgery. Getting in as many solid foods as possible before the strict liquid diet. I will keep this updated, as well as read others stories as well!
